Bowls England, The Bowls Club, and the Bowls Development Alliance are joining forces to offer community groups free sessions to increase participation in lawn bowls in a fun and casual setting this summer.
And mixing Bowls England’s ‘Bowls Bash’ initiative with The Bowls Club’s summer event experience will give first-time bowlers an extraordinary way into the sport.
Bowls Bash is being rolled out in bowls clubs across the country, with Bowls England providing equipment and marketing resources for all affiliated clubs and Bowls Development Alliance supporting with training and community outreach.

If you’re looking to get into lawn bowling or to refine your skills, the UK has plenty of excellent venues to choose from. One of the top spots for beginners is the Hurlingham Club in London, which offers coaching for all levels and a friendly community of players. For those looking for a challenge, Leamington Spa Bowling Club in Warwickshire is known for its high-level competitions and prestigious events. Other noteworthy venues include the Erewash Indoor Bowling Club in Derbyshire, which has state-of-the-art facilities, and the Glasgow Indoor Bowls Club, which hosts national competitions and provides coaching for players of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, these venues offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sport of lawn bowling in the UK.
The British Isles Senior Internationals will take place in Ayr, Scotland from June 30 to July 2, 2023 featuring teams from all countries except Jersey, with each team consisting of 10 women and 10 men. The event will showcase several disciplines, including Singles, Pairs, Triples, and Fours matches under World Bowls conditions. Matches are strictly limited to two hours and 15 minutes, and Jersey will only have one team in each category. Plans to include bowlers from participating countries in the future.
